Did you know that the United States is the only democratic country around the world that still has a conservative party that does not believe in global warming? This is sad, but true and quite evident in American congress. Moreover, the Republican Party is avidly against the idea of climate change. This seems very contradictory to the overwhelming consensus that science has demonstrated about global warming.

What Climate Change Really Means To The Entire Planet
Climate change is one of the most dangerous threats to our civilization.Never heard of this before? Get up to speed here. Essentially, the more carbon dioxide that is trapped in the Earth’s atmosphere, the hotter the planet will become. In a similar sense, Venus is an orbiting planet with a plethora of trapped carbon dioxide, which makes the planet entirely unlivable for human beings. This is why we should cooperate and try to find alternative methods to our oil addiction. Our two most dangerous actions that cause climate change are pollution and deforestation. Deforestation is the term applied to cutting down trees, which also release an immensity of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. If we are going to curb global warming, then we need a more energy efficient plan.

Victims of Global Warming: Pacific Islands Disappearing Underwater http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2013/06/01/victims-of-global-warming-pacific-islands-disappearing-underwater/ http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2013/06/01/victims-of-global-warming-pacific-islands-disappearing-underwater/#comments Sat, 01 Jun 2013 00:00:00 +0000 admin http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/?p=13 As the polar ice caps continue to melt, islands in the Pacific Ocean are increasingly in danger of becoming completely covered by water. The North American shorelines in places such as Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and California have already begun to show significant signs of receding due to high water levels in the ocean. Many homeowners who live by the water’s edge have already had to move their homes away from the water to prevent them from being destroyed by the encroaching sea. If you live on an island in the Pacific Ocean or close to the shore on the North American coast, you should consider moving.

Scientists disagree on whether global warming even exists, but it is difficult to deny the waters of all of the Earth’s oceans have been rising substantially in recent years. No one knows to what extent that this could alter life on Earth.

Climate Changes We Will See As the Earth Warms http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2013/03/29/climate-changes-we-will-see-as-the-earth-warms/ http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2013/03/29/climate-changes-we-will-see-as-the-earth-warms/#comments Fri, 29 Mar 2013 00:00:00 +0000 admin http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/?p=12 Atmospheric Changes

Global warming is gradually changing weather patterns across the planet. There are several reasons why global warming is occurring. Fuels such as wood and coal have been changing the atmosphere for the past few centuries. Particulates have gathered in the atmosphere from manufactured pollution and natural events such as volcanic eruptions. As soot and particulates fill the atmosphere, less sunlight is able to reach the earth’s surface. This creates either a warming or a cooling effect on temperatures depending on how the particulates are dispersed throughout the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases created by the use of fossil fuels is also rapidly changing climate due to atmospheric disturbances.

Rising Oceans

As the average temperature across the planet becomes warmer, oceans are slowly rising due to glacier’s melting in colder regions. The Arctic geographic region will eventually have very little ice or snow. Alternatively, many regions that have temperate climates will change to having hot and dry desert weather conditions. As entire geographic region’s weather conditions change, people may have to relocate to new areas to grow crops. Islands may disappear due to the rising water of the oceans resulting in a loss of animal and plant life.

What’s Causing Global Warming? http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2012/12/11/whats-causing-global-warming/ http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2012/12/11/whats-causing-global-warming/#comments Tue, 11 Dec 2012 00:00:00 +0000 admin http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/?p=11 In light of recent research, it’s tough to debate the adverse effects of global warming. The rise in earth’s average temperature has resulted in rising sea levels, unforeseen animal migration, severe storms, and a number of other maladies for our society.

In order to stop the process, we need to know what’s causing it. Here are three of the biggest reasons:

1. Carbon emissions from power plants. Coal burning forces a huge amount of carbon into our atmosphere, and that’s the largest impetus for the weakening of our atmosphere. Today, we rely on coal burning for much of our energy production, but that could change in the near future. You can do your part for the envrionment by transitioning to a green energy plan of your own – check out some more information on the subject at Texas Energy Providers.

2. Methane emissions from animals. Believe it or not, cows alone are responsible for a large portion of the greenhouses gases that seep into the atmosphere. When cows excrete, the digestive bacteria in their stomachs forces a harmful release of methane. Some farmers are working to mediate the issue by feeding their animals more environmentally friendly foods like alfalfa.

3. Deforestation. Trees play a huge part in our earth’s health. With more and more forests getting cut down, there are fewer trees around to transfer carbon dioxide into oxygen. Thus, fewer trees means more carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere.

The more we learn about these processes and their alternatives, the better off we’ll be.

Why Should We Care that the Earth is Getting Warmer? http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2012/07/14/why-should-we-care-that-the-earth-is-getting-warmer/ http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2012/07/14/why-should-we-care-that-the-earth-is-getting-warmer/#comments Sat, 14 Jul 2012 00:00:00 +0000 admin http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/?p=10 With all this Global Warming talk, why should I care if the Earth is getting hotter?

I think there are a lot of people with this question on their mind, especially for the people who are living in climates where maybe a little warm air would make their life a lot better. It’s short, the hotter the Earth gets, the more the world climate changes.

See, the Earth is part of a very delicate balance. We can forget that there is a big world out there, but ever cloud and piece of evaporated water in the world depends on the temperature and atmosphere of the earth. There are huge regulators we call Glaciers that make sure the temperature of the earth stays the way it is. When these large ice pieces fall apart they fall into the ocean like ice cubes falling into a full drink. The water has nowhere else to go except onto land. This is land people live on like the coasts of the world.

Not only that, with more hot water around there’s more evaporation and more water in the air. One of the most dangerous effects of this climate change is rising sea levels.

The world’s oceans are predicted to rise up to 55 centimeters during the next century and have already risen by 20 centimeters in the last 100 years. This rapid rise can lead to catastrophic consequences for the planet and its people.

Just a small rise in sea levels can cause tremendous flooding problems in coastal areas, but sea levels may rise by over ten meters if the global warming trend continues, causing the ice sheets of Greenland to melt. If climate change continues and the ice sheet melts, many coastal areas would be completely submerged in the ocean. All of the cities along the United States’ eastern seaboard would be flooded, and a large part of Florida would be completely wiped out. Island countries like the Maldives would be totally under water, and millions of people in Bangladesh and the Nile Delta region of Egypt would be driven from their homes by the rising water. No coastal area around the world would be spared the devastation.

Severe Droughts Are Becoming More Common http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2012/07/08/severe-droughts-are-becoming-more-common/ http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2012/07/08/severe-droughts-are-becoming-more-common/#comments Sun, 08 Jul 2012 00:00:00 +0000 admin http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/?p=8 Since time immemorial there have been droughts that resulted in famines. Droughts are defined as a prolonged period without rainfall. The drought is usually regional.

Now there are serious droughts all over the world. From 2003, Australia had a protracted and harsh drought that occurred in portions of Australia. It was the worst drought on record. As of November 2006, the late winter and mid spring rains didn’t happen. The drought has lasted into this year. Somalia in East Africa has suffered from a drought resulting in famine from 2009 to 2011. Portions of the Amazon basin have endured the worst drought in one hundred years.

According to the Palmer Drought Index a severe and great drought touched 24 of the conterminous United States at the end of May 2012. About 44 of the conterminous United States was ranked from lower to great drought class at the end of May 2012.

Right now there are serious wildfires in the West due to the drought. There are wildfires all over Colorado and New Mexico. There are wildfires burning in Arizona, Utah, Nevada, southern California, Idaho, Wyoming, and northwest Nebraska.

This is the proof that severe droughts are more frequent or common.

How Will Humans Adjust to the New Climate? http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2012/07/05/how-will-humans-adjust-to-the-new-climate/ http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2012/07/05/how-will-humans-adjust-to-the-new-climate/#comments Thu, 05 Jul 2012 00:00:00 +0000 admin http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/?p=7 The climate has changed drastically over the past hundred years. On just about every place on Earth, the summers have gotten hotter, and the winters have gotten shorter and milder. Glaciers are melting and certain types of life are being to die. It is estimated the Earth’s temperature has increased by 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit in the past 10 years.

Human beings are already being forced to adjust to this change in climate. People are spending less time outside, and those who do go outside are strongly advised to wear sunscreen. Because people are spending more time inside being inactive, experts are predicting that obesity rates will continue to increase over the years.

Additionally, the increase in temperature is also causing people’s electric bill to increase. The average electric bill for a three-bedroom house is 200. People are forced to set their thermostats at lower temps, which is why they are spending more money on their electric bill.

The good news is that there are things that people can do to stop the global warming. Unplugging appliances when they are not in use, recycling, driving less and cutting down fewer trees are the keys to solving this environmental problem.

Are Heat Waves Becoming Stronger and More Common? http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2012/07/01/are-heat-waves-becoming-stronger-and-more-common/ http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/2012/07/01/are-heat-waves-becoming-stronger-and-more-common/#comments Sun, 01 Jul 2012 00:00:00 +0000 admin http://www.climatechangecell-bd.org/?p=6 A heat wave is a large pocket of hot air moving into an area of cooler air. I use the term cooler since 90 degree air is cooler than 80 degree air.

But are these heat waves becoming stronger and happening more often? Yes.

As the Earth increases it’s temperature and there is less white space on the Earth to reflect the Sun’s rays, the Earth’s temperature heats up. Let’s step back for a moment, what are the white spaces on the Earth? They are large slabs of ice that help regulate the temperature of the Earth. Examples of these large slabs are Glaciers (like the one that covers most of Greenland), the Arctic and Antarctic ice sheets, and large frozen deserts or Tundras.

However, as the Earth’s temperature increases these ice sheets melt and there are less white sheets on the Earth’s face. The more ice that melts the more heat on the earth. The more heat on the Earth, the more pockets of heated air. Once this heated air gets pushed around the planet it picks up more and more heat and turns into a wave of heat. These heat waves are increasing as the Earth’s temperate increases.
